Irish joinery companies specify Lacquerite because the system arrives as a complete stack: stain, filler, basecoat and topcoat, in the sheen the client signed off. Interior work sits on Novalk and Sirca. Windows, entrance doors and outdoor joinery sit on the Sikkens Joinery range — not an interior AC taken outside.

What a joinery package actually needs

A signed sample is the specification. System, sheen, colour and whether the piece will be oiled, lacquered or fire-rated. We supply the stack so the bench is not mixing three merchants into one door.

• Stains, binders and grain fillers that belong with that topcoat
• In-house colour matching for repeats and replacements

The stain range under the lacquer

Interior colour on timber is a stack: dyes vehicle, binder or glazing stain, grain filler if the pore needs it, then the sealer and topcoat. LFS clear, LFS binder and Novalk glazing stain are tinted in-house. Waterborne stain work sits on NADW16. Exterior windows and doors do not use this interior solvent range.

• LFS clear (NAD750) as the dyes vehicle, LFS binder (NAD755) to hold colour in the grain
• Glazing stain and Sirca eucalyptus dye vehicle for wiped and highlighted work
• Thixofiller on open pore before the lacquer — not a stain on its own

Sikkens for exterior joinery

Windows, entrance doors and outdoor joinery need a waterborne exterior stack, not an interior AC or PC topcoat taken outside. The Sikkens Joinery range is specified as a system: Cetol sealer or WP567 biocide impregnation stain, Rubbol or XP650 primer, then Rubbol WF 3311 Promatch at 25% sheen. Kodrin edge sealer and filler close the end grain.

• Cetol WF960 sealer and WP567 biocide stain — neither is a film-forming topcoat
• Rubbol WP 198 or XP650 aqua PU primer, then WF 3311 clear or white Promatch
• Kodrin WV456 edge sealer and WV442 filler for joinery details
